I've lost all interest in this fight. Tan Yun keeps getting hit by attacks that should kill him while she is unscathed. She's also his wife so I can't imagine they will let Tan Yun kill her. I would be extremely surprised but intrigued if they actually let her die in the next 3 episodes.

I just hope that they renew the show to continue when this season ends.

In the novel, this was one of Tan Yun's deadliest fights. The both of them are torn to shreds by the end of it. They are both basically dead at the end of it, but Tan Yun has a cheat regeneration skill, so you know he will survive.
Also, it occurs inside the Hongmentu sword formation, so the problem is, the people outside the formation have no way of seeing or sensing what is going on inside the formation. No one knows that Tan Yun has 11 diferenent spiritual attributes.

The way you describe this fight how it was in the novel sounds thousand times more interesting even though you know that the MC can't possibly die because he has plot armor.

Well...yes, it was more interesting. But when does any mc die in his own story? I think that should be obvious. But I think what we want to complain about is the suspension of disbelief. Any good story will cause the audience to feel like they can relate to the mc. Even if it is as unrealistic as Spiderman or Harry Potter. What made those movies world famous is how everyone can sort of relate to the mc. This requires a suspension of disbelief such that we can find ourselves caring about the character and wishing for his success. When any of the 3 Spidermans had their re-boot and origin story in a movie, its a huge success. You can see Peter Parker struggling to understand and learn to use his powers and we can relate to that struggle. This fight in the novel was truly tough for the mc. These Chinese donghua animations don't always do a good job with a faithful reproduction of that feeling, but with some notable exceptions: Dragon Disciple, Eternal Life and 1st seasons of both RMJI & BTTH were good at that. The rest fail to match up. Honestly I gave up on the Against the Sky Supreme (Lit the Supreme Being) novel because the machine translation was so bad it was painful.
